Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) offers Masters  Degree Progarammes M.Sc.(IT), MBA (FE), MBA (TM), MBA (FSM), MBA (HSM) and MTech (IT).

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
MSc (IT)

(SYLLABUS / COURSE DETAILS)

It is a 4 Semesters Program (Two years). Candidates can get admission directly in Ist, IInd and IIIrd semester.

  • Admission in First Semester

    For getting admission in first semester candidate must have BCA/BIT/B.Sc(C.Sc.)/BE/B.Tech/AMIE. Or Graduates in any discipline with 6-months IT-Course or 1-year IT-Experience.

  • Admission in Second Semester (Lateral Entry Admission)

    Those Seeking admission in M.Sc. IInd semester they must have Graduation Plus 4 Semesters of GNIIT.

  • Admission in Third Semester (Lateral Entry Admission)

    Those seeking admission in M.Sc. IIIrd semester they must have graduation Plus PGDCA /PGDIT from a university or equivalent or DOEACC 'A' Level Certificate or B.E.(C.Sc./IT) or MCA or GNIIT or PGDCA from CAL-C

Master of Business Administration in Financial Engineering (MBA - FE)

It is a 4 Semesters Program (Two years).

  • Objective

    Financial Engineering has been one of the emerging disciplines of the past decade. In the new economy, the challenges of money management are quite varied. Managers and Industry leaders have to make quick forecast and investment decisions involving millions of dollars and a wrong move might spell disaster to their organizations. In such a fast moving, high-risk scenario, the evaluation and quantification of risks, the measurement of risk-reward pay-offs, sound forecasting, are all very important elements towards making informed decisions. This is where a financial engineering professional steps in. Most of us would be quite uninformed about what a Finance professional does. The most common questions, to begin with, are – what is his function and where does he stand in the organizational hierarchy.

    Financial Engineering professionals use computer simulation models and math to make trading, hedging and investment decisions. One of the most fundamental roles performed by finance professionals is to measure and quantify risk that financial instruments like derivatives create. The cocktail of skills are very useful in fields such as trading and risk management and in strategic planning. Finance professionals also play a key role in investment decision-making and investment portfolio management. Organizations such as Goldman, Sachs & Co. and JP Morgan, Chase & Co. employ finance professionals in there banking and finance operations. Apart from this, there are many small investment and brokerage enterprises that also require the skills of computational finance professionals. Instruction shall be led by quality study material to be developed by qualified and experienced faculty. Till the time the study material is developed, the students shall be provided the standard text books of renowned authors.

    Students in the MBA (FE) program learn to employ theoretical finance and computer modeling skills to make pricing, hedging, trading and portfolio   management decisions. Courses and projects emphasize the practical applications of these skills. The modular course of study in form of semester shall be incorporated for MBA (FE) students.

Master of Technology in Information Technology  
(MTech - IT)

It is a 4 Semesters Program (Two years).

  • Admission Qualification

    A candidate seeking admission in MTech (IT) program should have passed BE / BTech or its equivalent in any discipline or MCA / MSc (CS) / MSc (IT) / MIT / MCM or its equivalent from recognized University or M.Sc. in any discipline with mathematics as a major component in B.Sc. or  DOEACC "B" level.

  • Course Duration

    The course duration for MTech (IT) will be two years comprising of four semesters but the candidate will have to complete the course within four years from the session of enrollment.
